Hisako Ichiki (chako)

Hisako brings a unique range of design experience and approach to Chakotaco. Her interests in urban research, experiential public art, architectural design and craft has allowed her to build and be part of wide range of works.

Hisako has a BA in Policy Management from Keio University and a Masters of Architecture from SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) . She has worked as Project designer/manager at Doug Aitken Workshop for exhibition design and fabrication coordination, Project designer at Osborn Architects for public projects including elementary school, high school and non-profit organizations. She is also a principal of Bunch Design Collective.

She is committed to creating design solutions and ideas that are simple, effective and unheard of.

Takao Umehara (taco)

Takao is a multidimensional thinker who trained himself as an event producer, graphic designer and art director. His experiences span a wide range of project scales and each brings a holistic and integrated approach. His whimsical thinking often brings happy surprise to a project.

Takao has a BA in Policy Management from Keio University and BFA/ Graphic Design from Art Center College of Design. He has worked with numerous clients including Motorola, Dupont, Coca-Cola, ExxonMobil, Progressive, New York Times, IBM, Johnson & Johnson through several branding agencies such as BIG/Ogilvy (LA/NYC) and Anomaly and freelance work. He has managed various projects as a project manager, art director and creative director and acquired skills to lead and support team members.

His ability in design is not limited to provide ideas for campaigns and visual strategies, however he is also committed to provide conceptual thinking for any given subject such as product, service, store and event development. He strives to expand the role of design and creative thinking as a means to improve the world.
